Accuracy of 4 digital scanning systems on prepared teeth digitally isolated from a complete dental arch

2018

Abstract Statement of problem The accuracy of digital scanners is acceptable for scanning a complete dental arch. However, whether that accuracy is sufficient for only 1 tooth within the dental scan of a complete dental arch is unclear. Purpose The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate and compare the accuracy of 4 intraoral scanners on a complete dental arch and on prepared teeth digitally isolated from the digital scan in terms of trueness and precision. Material and methods A model of a complete dental arch with tooth preparations was scanned 40 times with each of the 4 digital scanners. Their accuracy was evaluated by using 3-dimensional (3D) software to compare the test models…

Fixed dental prostheses with vertical tooth preparations without finish lines: A report of two patients

2016

Tooth abutments can be prepared to receive fixed dental prostheses with different types of finish lines. The literature reports different complications arising from tooth preparation techniques, including gingival recession. Vertical preparation without a finish line is a technique whereby the abutments are prepared by introducing a diamond rotary instrument into the sulcus to eliminate the cementoenamel junction and to create a new prosthetic cementoenamel junction determined by the prosthetic margin. This article describes 2 patients whose dental abutments were prepared to receive ceramic restorations using vertical preparation without a finish line.

Komparativno istraživanje oblikovanja četiriju rotirajućih sustava

2015

Svrha: U ovom istraživanju analizirali smo rezno područje, vrijeme instrumentacije, održavanje anatomije korijenskog kanala i neinstrumentirana područja dobivena korištenjem instrumenata F360®, Mtwo®, RaCe® i Hyflex® u ISO veličini 35. Vrijeme inst…

Vertical preparation for fixed prosthesis rehabilitation in the anterior sector

2015

This clinical report describes a biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT) for teeth and an implant for the esthetic rehabilitation of the maxillary anterior sector. The technique was designed to create an anatomic crown with a prosthetic emergence profile that simulated the shape of the natural tooth.

Surface debris of canal walls after post space preparation in endodontically treated teeth: A scanning electron microscopic study

2004

Abstract Purpose To evaluate surface cleanliness of root canal walls along post space after endodontic treatment using 2 different irrigant regimens, obturation techniques, and post space preparation for adhesive bonding. Study design Forty teeth, divided into 4 groups, were instrumented, using Ni-Ti rotary files, irrigated with NaOCl or NaOCl + EDTA and obturated with cold lateral condensation (CLC) or warm vertical condensation (WVC) of gutta-percha. After post space preparation, etching, and washing procedure, canal walls were observed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Amount of debris, smear layer, sealer/gutta-percha remnants, and visibility of open tubules were rated. Result…

Survival rates of a lithium disilicate-based core ceramic for three-unit esthetic fixed partial dentures: a 10-year prospective study.

2013

Purpose The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy and long-term survival rate of three-unit fixed partial dentures (FPDs) made from lithium disilicate-based core ceramic. Materials and methods Twenty-one three-unit FPDs were placed in 19 patients to replace single lost teeth in the esthetic area, following a study protocol that took clinical, esthetic, and radiologic aspects into consideration. Each case was reviewed at 1 week following placement, at 6 months, and then annually for 10 years. Statistical analysis was performed using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Results Out of the 19 patients, 14.3% presented reversible postoperative sensitivity. Recession was…
